| Mike on the black sand beach in front of Yellowstone Lake. |
This day did not start out well at all. I got incredibly sick in the middle of the night- nausea, chills and sweats, dizziness. I have no idea what caused it, but it was pretty awful. Being sick away from home (and without your own bathroom) is so unpleasant. Luckily my amazing boyfriend took care of me and kept telling me to relax (as everyone who knows me knows I need reminders) as he packed up the room so we could make our checkout.
We drove toward the South Entrance toward our next stop, 2 nights in Canyon Cabins. On the way, we stopped at Yellowstone lake (check out the black sand beach!) and Mike saw some sulphur pots. Just the smell made me feel sick again, so I stayed in the car.
Another hike and some more waterfalls... About 3 miles on South Rim trail, down Uncle Toms trail (and a steep 382 steps) and another mile down to Lower Falls trail. I guess a combination of fresh air, beautiful scenery, my sweet boyfriend's concern, and veggie chili cooked in the great outdoors turned around my illness.
Oh... And Mike was impressed by the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone! When I first told him about it, he gave me some ridiculousness about how it was nothing compared to the real Grand Canyon. Today he admitted he was impressed and said he shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Huh. Maybe he should just listen to me more often!
