Today would have been my dad's 86th birthday. Of course, if he was still alive, I never would have been allowed to say that. He's probably rolling over in his grave right now, horrified that his age is on the internet... well, dad, I think you should be proud to have made it to 85, so I'm letting the world know!
Anyway, against my better judgement, I decided to work today. I knew avoiding work would just lead to moping at home, and I didn't think it would help my mood. While at work, however, I decided to waste some time and look up my flight for the mainland. 49 days to go! How serendipitous is it that today would be the day that marks the "perfect square" number of days to my perfect square road trip?
If I've learned anything this year, it's this:
We really have no control. Some things are just meant to be.
Now, if I could just have my actions follow those beliefs. Stop trying to control. Which is why we have a crazy road trip.... a crazy, very much unplanned, road trip.
